How much does a Mediterranean cruise REALLY cost for a family of 3? 🚢💸 This cruise was advertised at about $1,299 per person — but after gratuities, excursions, specialty dining, and everything we spent onboard, our actual cruise cost came out to about $6,500–$7,000 for our family of three. And that does NOT include our flights to Europe, pre-cruise hotels, or everything I bought to prepare for the trip. This breakdown is strictly what we spent on the cruise experience itself. In this video, I’m breaking down exactly where the money went, including: • Our base cruise fare + Club Suite • Norwegian Cruise Line’s Free at Sea package • Unlimited drinks + the gratuities attached to the package • Specialty dining • Cruise gratuities/service charges • Shore excursions vs. DIY port days • Onboard spending • Laundry, bottled water, Starbucks, room service & more • What I would spend again — and what I absolutely would not • Whether I think a Mediterranean cruise is actually worth it I also share some of the decisions that made the trip better, including why I loved booking a guaranteed cabin, how we saved money by doing some ports ourselves, and why one excursion in Corfu was a 1/10 while another day in Santorini was a 10/10. THE FINAL VERDICT: For us? YES — it was worth it. But I would NOT call this a $1,299-per-person trip. Once everything was added up, it was much closer to a $7,000 Mediterranean experience for three people. And honestly, I would do it again. Day nine in Barcelona, and we finally had the kind of day I had pictured from the start, before getting sick. We began with a beautiful hotel breakfast, then decided to walk instead of calling a car. I stayed on high alert, bag in front, fully committed to not dealing with pickpockets. Our first stop was Casa Vicens, one of Antoni Gaudí’s earliest works. It’s understated from the outside, but inside you start to see the ornate vision that preceded his most famous work, the Sagrada Família which we toured yesterday. If I’m being honest, I enjoyed this visit more than the Sagrada Familia because it was less crowded and so beautiful inside. After, we popped into a restaurant called Corgi Café that I had saved on Google Maps weeks before coming on the trip. Cute, but not as engaging as I thought it would be. We’ve been to a cat cafe before, which was really quite fun so the bar was set high. If there was more than one dog and the dogs were interested in people-time, it would have been better. I had only planned one big activity for each day of our Spain trip, but today we had more energy than expected, so we tried to get into Park Güell last-minute. Even though it is not the high season yet, it was sold out, which honestly just happens here, so we took the long way back and enjoyed the walk and playgrounds along the way instead. We ended the night with one last incredible dinner in Barcelona, a delicious Japanese restaurant where we lingered and tried many dishes before heading back to the hotel room to pack up. Day three in Figueres was the entire reason I planned this part of the trip to Northern Spain. The Dalí Theatre-Museum isn’t just a museum with paintings hung on the wall, it’s something you can only experience in 3D. Dalí designed it himself, and people come from all over the world to see it. He lived the end of his life at the museum and he is buried here.  So who is Dali and why do people care? Well, he was a very eclectic person who had a very interesting love life which is intertwined with his works of art. Even if you don’t follow art history, you’ve likely seen his surreal work, especially the paintings of melting clocks, and other mind-bending dreamlike scenes.   We spent most of the day wandering through the exhibits, taking it all in slowly. Some pieces feel like illusions until you’re standing right in front of them. It’s immersive in a way that’s hard to explain unless you see it in real life. By the time we left, we had fully worked up an appetite and headed back toward the popular restaurant square in Figueres for a long, leisurely Italian lunch at 50 Voltes. It ended up being one of those meals that lingers and replaces the rest of your day—simple, generous, and exactly what you want after hours of exploring. Back to the hotel, packed up, and rested—ready to continue the road trip the next morning. See you tomorrow for Day 4.
