I met two travelers from Russia on a beach in Bali. Here’s what they shared:

• They were spending the day here at Melasti Beach
• One arrived just three days ago — without a return ticket. The other arrived about a week ago, with a stopover in Bangkok on the way from Moscow, and might stay until spring
• Why Bali: “because it’s a magic island” — and it’s like a second home, since one of them has lived here before for around three years
• Their work: he’s a photographer, and she stopped working in Moscow — now she’s just living her best life
• Their favourite place: Bedugul, up in the north. It’s cooler there, with fresh air and less heat than the beach, plus beautiful nature — mountains, lakes, jungle — and everything absolutely green, as if the saturation were turned all the way up

I met three travelers from France on a beach in Bali. Here’s what they shared:

• Why Bali: the flights weren’t too expensive — plus the nature, the culture, and the people, who are really kind
• Their plans: living day by day for now, then heading to Nusa Penida, Mount Batur, and a week in Ubud
• Their work and studies: one helps people with limited mobility through sport and rehabilitation, and another is a student. They also studied dietetics together, and have just finished their studies
• Their best memory: seeing the monkeys. Did any steal something? “No… not yet,” they laughed
• Their future goals: travel the world, discover other cultures and countries — and, for one of them, start a family

I met a couple from Russia on a beach in Bali. Here’s what they shared:

• They’d only been in Bali for two days — after landing, they flew out to Jakarta for The Weeknd’s concert, then came back to see the sights here
• They haven’t explored much yet, but they’re already very impressed by this beach — Karma Beach — and they recommend it
• Their best memory so far: the rice fields. They were blown away, and said they don’t think you can find such a beautiful place anywhere else in the world
• What they loved: everything in one place — sightseeing, nature, and even some modern architecture
• What they love about home: he’s all about football — watching it, playing it, everything related to it — and she loves Formula 1, and taking photos

I met a couple from Croatia on a beach in Bali. Here’s what they shared:

• Why Bali: they love to travel — last year it was the Maldives — and Bali fitted them best, especially for the nature, which they call one of the best they’ve ever seen
• They’re both university students, and over the summer they work as a waiter and waitress during Croatia’s tourist season
• Their best memory: rafting on the Ayung River — though they say every moment here feels like a scene from a movie, with so many temples everywhere
• How they met: at university. As he put it, he saw her and fell in love immediately
• Their tip for a good relationship: communication is the key to everything — and travel a lot
• Their future goals: finish university, travel much more — maybe even Japan — and then, maybe, marriage and kids

I met a couple from Italy on a beach in Bali. Here's what they shared:
• Why they came: she had just graduated, so they wanted to travel somewhere tropical — they went to Thailand first, and Bali was the natural next stop• What they love about it: it's affordable, the vibes are nice, and the food is good• On their jobs: he works as a salesman, and she works as a personal trainer at a gym while studying nutrition at university• Their favourite spot isn't actually in Bali — it's Gili Air, where they spent three days. They call it incredibly peaceful, and a paradise on Earth• How they met: at a beach club back in Italy, much smaller than the ones here — and here they are, on a beach again• Their tip for keeping a good relationship: be patient — and, they joked, keep the distance• Their future goals: her only dream is to become a mom and have a big family full of love, while he wants to become really good at sales and business, so he can provide for his family and enjoy places like this together

I met two travelers from the Gold Coast, Australia, on a beach in Bali. Here's what they shared:

• They're here for two weeks — part holiday, part work, since they run retreats in Bali
• They've both been coming here since they were young. For one, it's always been the family holiday spot, and now she comes back one to three times a year
• Their work: they host a podcast together called She Rises, focused on female empowerment, personal development, and the hard conversations no one else wants to have
• Through that business, they run women-only retreats in Australia and here in Bali. One has been a life coach for six years; the other has worked in fitness for a long time
• Their favourite places: Uluwatu — one of them got married on the cliff right above this beach — and Canggu, for the gyms, the restaurants, and the busy energy
• Their tip: Uluwatu is great for a slower, easy-going trip, while Canggu is the pick if you love variety and a lively vibe
• Their best memories: running their retreats together, getting married here, and family holidays
• Their dating advice for guys: be open and be yourself — too many people are wearing a mask. Be playful and fun, use your humour, make her laugh, don't be sleazy — and leave the ego at the door
• Their future goals: they've run eight retreats so far, aim to do one a month next year, and want to help women believe in themselves and build inner confidence
